ree

The Tasmanian Nepalese Cricket Association (TNCA) has successfully concluded its inaugural Grace TNCA T20 League, powered by OnTrack Tasmania, with an exhilarating Grand Final at Cadbury Oval, Claremont, on March 16, 2025. Launched on November 7, 2024, this tournament was a historic moment for the Nepalese cricketing community in Tasmania, bringing together seven competitive teams—Gurkha Legends, Everest Stars, Kathmandu Warriors, Expert Cricket Club, Moonlight Rhinos, Yeti Cricket Club, and Capital Dragons.

Over the course of 14 rounds of league matches and two rounds of finals, the competition was fierce, and the passion for cricket was evident in every game.

The Grand Final saw Gurkha Legends continue their dominant run, defeating Everest Stars by 63 runs to claim the Grace TNCA T20 Championship Trophy. Batting first, the Legends set a competitive total of 145/6 in 20 overs, with solid contributions from Khem Raj Poudel and Bikram Sob.

However, it was Sandip Adhikari who stole the spotlight with an all-round masterclass, scoring 19 runs and delivering a sensational bowling performance of 4/9, which earned him the Player of the Match title. Despite a strong effort from Everest Stars, they were restricted to 82 all out, thanks to disciplined bowling from Suraj Thapa and Lalit Lamsal, ensuring Gurkha Legends' emphatic victory.

The tournament was not just about lifting the championship trophy; it was also about recognizing outstanding individual performances. Navrojdeep Virk of Everest Stars was awarded Best Batter of the Tournament, while Suraj Thapa from Gurkha Legends took home the Best Bowler accolade. The most prestigious award, Player of the Tournament, was rightfully claimed by Sandip Adhikari, whose consistency and brilliance throughout the competition were unmatched.

Reflecting on the tournament’s success, TNCA President Kamal Bhandari shared his gratitude, emphasizing how the Grace TNCA T20 League was a groundbreaking event that united the community, strengthened the spirit of cricket, and created an unforgettable experience for players and fans alike.

He extended his sincere appreciation to title sponsor Grace International, powered-by sponsor OnTrack Tasmania, and all valued partners, volunteers, teams, and supporters who made the event possible. TNCA Vice President Bikash Sedhai, serving as the Program Coordinator, played a key role in ensuring the seamless execution of the tournament.

A major highlight of the season was the global reach of the league, with Exotic Lane streaming matches live for audiences worldwide.

Niranjan Bhandari’s engaging commentary added a whole new level of excitement, keeping fans entertained both on the field and at home. The overwhelming success of the tournament was a testament to the dedication of players, teams, umpires, sponsors, councils, government bodies, and the entire TNCA community, who came together to celebrate cricket in Tasmania like never before.

As the season comes to an end, TNCA is already looking ahead to the future, with plans to further develop Nepalese cricket in Tasmania and organize even bigger and better tournaments. The journey does not stop here—this is just the beginning of something extraordinary, and the excitement for what’s next is already building.

Thank you to everyone who was part of this incredible season, and we can’t wait to see you all again next year!
