Bibek Sedhai – A Celebrated Umpiring Journey in Northern Tasmania

Bibek Sedhai has become a well-respected figure in the Northern Tasmanian cricket community through his outstanding work as a cricket umpire. For over four years, he has been actively involved with the Northern Tasmania Cricket Association (NTCA), showcasing his commitment, consistency, and deep knowledge of the game. Known for his calm demeanor and fair decision-making, Bibek has earned admiration not only from players and officials but also from the broader cricket community.

In the 2024/25 season, Bibek was once again honoured as the Cricket North 1st Grade Umpire of the Year—his third consecutive win. This achievement not only highlights his individual excellence but also makes the entire Nepalese community in Tasmania proud.

The NTCA, where Bibek continues to shine, is one of Australia’s oldest and most prestigious cricket associations.


Based in Launceston, the NTCA has nurtured some of the greatest names in Australian cricket, including David Boon, George Bailey, and Ricky Ponting—all of whom began their legendary journeys on NTCA grounds.
